In recognition of the paucity of postgraduate opportunities for graduates, AMECA has been liaising with personnel within Malawi and in the UK, to consider whether it could extend the support for undergraduate students to include postgraduate clinical training, particularly in areas where specialists are in short supply in Malawi.

In Malawi, AMECA is undertaking research with COSECSA, (College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa). In the UK, AMECA has been liaising with the President and CEO of The Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG) to explore potential collaboration, and on the basis of a very positive meeting in August, has now submitted a business proposal for consideration by the RCPSG  HOPE Foundation / Global Health Group. AMECA is aware of the extensive experience of the RCPSG in postgraduate training and assessment overseas, and of the links in sub-Saharan Africa between the RCPSG and COSECSA.
