The Rift Valley Provincial Hospital is a large Government provincial hospital located in Nakuru town in western Kenya. Rift valley PGH was started as a military hospital in 1906. It is currently the fourth largest government referral hospital serving most of the south and central rift valley and neighbouring districts.
The hospital serves a population of about 3.6 million in south Rift valley plus patients coming as far as western, Nyanza, North Rift valley and Central part of Kenya
It has steadily grown to its present status with a bed capacity of 622. The bed occupancy at any given time is at an average of 120% i.e. 720. The hospital has 15 general wards and most of the facilities of an African hospital, but lacking are MRI, CT Scan. However, CT is available privately in Nakuru town.OR space is limited; there are 5 OR’s but only 2 are for elective procedures.
All types of surgeons welcomed, especially if able to bring a teaching package. The hospital is also especially interested in receiving reconstructive surgeons, ENT specialists, orthopaedic surgeons and colorectal surgeons. Elective students welcome.
The hospital is located about 170 Km from the airport in Nairobi via a good road. Visitors can be met at the airport by arrangement with the hospital.
Hotel and guest house accommodation is available. Hotel costs from $30 bed and breakfast.
Length of Stay: Length of stay will largely depend on the visitor.
