Established in October 1964, the hospital started as a small Health Centre, and has since developed over the years to a 276 Bed capacity General Hospital. Monze Mission Hospital has retained its independence and is still under the Catholic Diocese of Monze.
The hospital has three operating theatres, two for major surgery and one for minor surgery.
General Surgery and Urology. Elective students welcomed but are asked to be specific with their applications rather than randomly emailing the hospital.
The hospital is located within a short distance from the main airport at Zambia. Visitors can be met at the airport by arrangement with the hospital.
Available on site at no cost to doctors working in the hospital. Elective students tend to find their own accommodation in the town at fairly low cost.
Four weeks is optimal, but length of stay will largely depend on the visitor.
A visa is required and more information is available at: http://www.zambiahc.org.uk/visa_requirements.html

This is a small well-run mission hospital located between Lusaka and Livingstone. It has links with COSECSA and the Surgical Society of Zambia. Monze District has no District Hospital so Monze Mission Hospital provides both District and General Hospital levels of care.
