Government Regional Referral Hospital, situated about 250 km northeast of Kampala, Uganda’s capital. It is a public hospital, funded by the Uganda Ministry of Health.
This is a reasonable well-established hospital with a large range of specialist departments. The hospital has 4 operating theatres; one for the private wing, one for Obstetric Surgery, one for Ophthalmology and one main operating theatre.
The hospital are particularly looking for ENT, Orthopaedics, Obs + Gyn and General Surgeons.
The hospital is located about 300 km by road from the main airport at Entebbe. Visitors can be met but please be aware that you may need to make a contribution towards fuel costs.
This is available on site at a cost of $15 per day.
Most general surgeons stay six weeks. Three months is optimal for learning the local and hospital culture and being most effective, but length of stay will largely depend on the visitor.

All the main hospital services are fully established and are run by specialist doctors except the Orthopaedic and Mental Health units which are fully set-up but currently only run by diploma holders. Other auxiliary Health Services available include Upper & Lower GIT Endoscopy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Palliative Care.
