Owned and operated by an Ethiopian obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr. Yigeremu Asfaw, the hospitals are located in or near to Addis Ababa. In 2000, Bethel Teaching General Hospital opened and the busy village of Bethel has grown up around the hospital. In 2005 the second hospital, Bethel Teaching General Hospital No. 2 was opened. Between the two hospitals more than 300 patients are seen daily.
Modelled after hospitals in developed countries with ambulances, emergency rooms, inpatient and outpatient services, a surgery department as well as modern radiology and laboratory services, Bethel Teaching General Hospital is flourishing. Facilities include General Medicine, Internal Medicine – (Haemodialysis), Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care, Paediatrics, Obstetrics/Gynaecology, In-Vitro Fertilization, ICSI and laparoscopic gynaecologic surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Urosurgery, Endooscopic Surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Transplant and Hepatobiliary Surgery, Oncology Surgery.
: All fields of surgery + specialists in nephrology, neonatal care and paediatricians. In addition the hospital requires a perinatologist, anatomists, pathologists, pharmacologist, physiologists and biochemists to teach medical students.

The hospital is located within a reasonably short distance from the main airport at Addis Ababa.
This is provided nearby and is free of charge and a trip around the country provided for those who stay for 6 months.
